Sacramento Stormwater Quality Partnership, Be River Friendly campaign

The Be River Friendly campaign for Sacramento Stormwater Quality Partnership (SSQP) includes Sacramento County and the incorporated cities of Sacramento, Citrus Heights, Elk Grove, Folsom, Galt, and Rancho Cordova.

ProProse was hired to promote messages to inform and educate residents in the greater Sacramento Area about the nature of storm drain systems and that stormwater carries pollutants to bodies of water. Although storm drain systems work differently in different communities, the result is the same – pollution ends up where we don’t want it. Messages are targeted to residents with focus on homeowners, parents, and pet owners due to their desire for safe and healthy families, homes, and neighborhoods.

ProProse also redesigned, launched and maintains the new BeRiverfriendly.net website.

ProProse was responsible for several campaigns that included: television, radio on English and Spanish stations, outdoor billboards, and online banners that directed audiences to the BeRiverFriendly.net website.

ProProse also manages the SSQP Be River Friendly social media posting and message calendar for continued education and on-going outreach to Sacramento County residents.

Utility Rate Assistance Program URAP assists low-income residential customers in paying their utility bills by providing eligible households a discount on water and wastewater charges. ProProse developed advertising materials and the URAP application in English, Spanish, Russian, and Hmong.

We also planned and placed media, and conducted community outreach to stakeholder organizations such as the Hmong Women Heritage Association, Mexican Consulate, First 5 Sacramento, and more to raise awareness and encourage qualifying Sacramento residents to apply for the program.
